Core 9 Person Extended Dome Tent Review

Our full review of the Core 9 Person Extended Dome Tent.

Let’s take a look at the spacious Core 9 Person Extended Dome Tent. Right off the bat, you’ll notice the unique style of this camping tent. Unlike other large, family camping tents, this tent from Core distances itself from the straight wall cabin style. The tent it large, high-quality, weather resistant, and comes with some really great features. Here’s what we love about the Extended Dome Tent.

Tent Size

The Core Extended Dome Tent is a large, family-sized camping tent. It’s larger than most other dome style tents, measuring sixteen feet wide by nine feet long. At the center, the height is about 72 inches (6 feet). Because it is a dome tent, the walls and ceiling slope downward from the center, so you will only be able to stand up inside near the middle.

Inside of the Extended Dome Tent, you can comfortably sleep 9 people. You’ll be able to fit three queen air mattresses inside with some extra space still remaining. The pictures really don’t do the size of this justice — it’s really much bigger than it appears in photos.

When packed up into the included carry bag, the tent measures 27 x 10 x 10 inches, which is perfect for easy transportation.

Weather Resistance

This tent absolutely holds up in harsh weather conditions. Unlike normal tent seams, all of the seams on the Extended Dome Tent are heat sealed to prevent water from seeping in. Even the seams on the tent floor and on the rainfly are heat-sealed.

Additionally, the adjustable air vents that we love are covered with small awnings. The windows and doors have zippers that are completely sealed when closed.

Rainfly

Included with the tent is a removable rainfly. A large portion of the roof is mesh, so the rainfly is definitely necessary when the weather gets wet. The rainfly has thich tape heat-sealed to the fabric for added protection from the elements.

Features We Love

Unique Extended Dome Design

Aesthetically, I’m a really big fan of this tent. Most large, family camping tents are cabin style tents with high, straight walls. Instead, this tent takes the classic dome shape that’s common among smaller tents, supersizes it, and then adds extensions on either side. The look is really unique and feels much more like a “camping tent” than the cabin style alternatives do.

Mesh Ceiling Panels

One of my favorite features of this tent is the mesh ceiling panels. Once you take off the removable rainfly, the majority of the tent’s ceilings are transparent mesh. This is amazing at night and I cannot recommend it enough. Falling asleep while staring at the starry night sky, while also protected from bugs and mosquitoes, is an amazing experience.

Adjustable Air Vents

Another awesome feature of Core’s Extended Dome Tent is the advanced ventilation. Around the base of the tent, you’ll find small vents that draw cool air into the tent. Hot air then exits through the tent’s large mesh ceiling. The size of each vent is easily adjustable, which gives you more control over the temperature inside the tent.
